Frequently Asked Questions

How long can I use my Brazilian license in NSW?

According to the new Transport for NSW rules, if you arrived at NSW with a temporary visa from July 1, 2023, you can drive with your license valid for a maximum period of 6 months. After this period, to continue legally driving, you need to obtain an NSW license. If you arrived before that date, the deadline for conversion is March 1, 2025.

What is the process to get my Australian driver's license (NSW License)?

If you already have the Brazilian CNH, the process starts with scheduling and passing the theoretical test, the Driver Knowledge Test (DKT). After passing the DKT, you can schedule the practical test, the Driving Test (DT). If you are approved in the DT, you will receive an NSW license corresponding to the time of your CNH: less than 1 year (red P1), from 1 to 3 years (green P2) or more than 3 years (Full License).

I need the naati translation if my new driver's license already has fields in English?

This is a very common question. Although the new Brazilian CNH has facilitated the identification, the official recommendation of the Transport for NSW is that, if the license is not entirely in English, it must be accompanied by an official translation or an international driving permit (PID). To avoid any problems on the day of your test or in a police blitz, having a Naati translation is the safest option.

What happens if I fail the practice test? Do I lose the right to drive?

If you fail the practical test, you will no longer be able to drive in NSW using your foreign license. You will be required to get a learner license (apprenticeship license) to be able to practice, and can only drive accompanied by a driver with full license by your side. You can reschedule a new test, usually with a minimum interval of one week. This is why good preparation is essential.

What is the difference between the test locations (Bondi, Botany, Eastgardens)? Is any easier?

Each test site has its own traffic characteristics and specific routes. Botany can have more industrial traffic, while Bondi Junction has dense commercial areas. There is no “easier” location, as everyone tests the same skills required by Transport for NSW. The most important thing is to be well prepared to drive safely in any scenario. In our classes, we practice in the relevant areas of the test site you choose.

Frequently Asked Questions – Driving Lesson

How long before the test should I start taking classes?

This varies for each person. For experienced drivers from Brazil, I recommend 3 to 5 classes to adapt well to the English hand, local rules and test maneuvers. For beginners, a package of 10 classes is ideal for building a solid foundation. The best thing is to schedule an initial class to evaluate your level and create a personalized plan.

How do I schedule a class and how does the payment work?

Scheduling is done simply and quickly through our online system. Just click on “(schedule class)”, choose the service, the best day and time in my schedule, and make the online payment with a credit card to confirm your reservation. It’s practical and safe.

Where do classes take place? do you pick me up at home?

The default meeting point is in the Service NSW of the region chosen for the class (Bondi Junction, Botany or Eastgardens), as it is the same place where the practical test comes out. This allows us to focus class time on routes and areas relevant to your test. For other locations, please contact us to verify the possibility.

Which car is used in class?

We use a 2023 automatic Suzuki Swift Hatch. It is a compact, modern, easy-to-drive car perfect for the test maneuvers. It is equipped with dual brake and throttle control for your safety, plus reverse camera and blind spot mirrors.

Frequently Asked Questions – Car Hire

Why should I rent your car to the test instead of using mine?

My car is 100% approved by the NSW service for testing, with adequate commercial insurance and dual control. Using a private car may have restrictions (eg handbrake not accessible to the evaluator) that can prevent your test. Renting my car eliminates this stress and ensures that you will take the test in a vehicle you are already familiar with if you have taken classes with me.

How far in advance should I schedule the car rental for my test?

I recommend that you schedule the rent for 15 minutes before the official time of your test. For example, if your test is at 10:30, schedule the service for 10:15. This gives us enough time to meet in the parking lot, you adjust the mirrors and the seat calmly and go to the service NSW counter without haste.

What is included in the "Package Approval"?

It is our most recommended option! It includes a full time of heating class, where we review the routes and maneuvers of the test site, followed immediately by the use of the car for its practical test. It’s the best way to get to the calm, warm and confident test.
